AT A GLANCE

POLi ceased operating in Australia on 30 September 2023. Pages still promoting it as a current Australian casino deposit method need to be read as outdated claims, not as evidence that the service has returned.

What closed, and what continued in New Zealand

The official POLi New Zealand notice explains that Australia Post closed the Australian service on 30 September 2023, while Merco acquired the system to continue operations in New Zealand. These are separate country outcomes.

That distinction resolves the apparent contradiction between an Australian closure notice and a functioning New Zealand POLi website. It does not establish that an Australian bank account can use the New Zealand service, nor that a casino supports it. We found no primary-source evidence of an Australian relaunch in the material checked for this guide.

Why a current-looking POLi casino page can still be wrong

A year in a title is not proof that the payment information was updated. Look for a dated provider announcement and a country-specific statement. An article that changes its heading to the current year while retaining an old payment table has not resolved the underlying availability question.

Claim or evidenceWhat it actually establishes

Current New Zealand POLi websiteContinuation in a different market

A recent year in a search titleNo independent confirmation of payment availability

A particularly weak listing gives a deposit limit or processing time without saying when or where it was checked. Do not rely on those figures to resolve an existing payment problem.

If your question concerns an old transaction

Start with the date and the bank statement, not the label on a later review. Collect the amount, currency, merchant name, payment reference and any confirmation email from the original transaction. Identify whether the issue is an uncredited payment, an unauthorised debit or money held by a merchant.

Ask the relevant bank or merchant to trace that specific record through an official contact channel. An old payment made through a discontinued service does not become a new transfer simply because a website now advertises PayID or another option. Do not resend money as a supposed migration or account-reactivation payment.

For a very old claim, the available complaint routes and time limits depend on the facts and applicable terms. A generic casino article cannot promise recovery. Keep the original evidence and explain the chronology accurately.

Compare current payment information without assuming a replacement

PayID, bank transfers and digital wallets are different products, not a universal automatic replacement for POLi. A merchant must disclose its actual arrangement, and the existence of a payment product does not authorise online casino services in Australia.

Use three questions when checking any replacement claim: who provides the payment service, which country and bank accounts it supports, and what the merchant's current terms say. Our payment-method guide explains how to distinguish deposits, refunds and payouts. None of those processes should be assumed to carry over from a historical POLi listing.

THE DETAILS READERS ASK ABOUT

Questions, answered

Can I use POLi for an Australian casino deposit today?

The Australian POLi service closed on 30 September 2023. This guide does not verify any current Australian casino acceptance or relaunch.

Why does the POLi New Zealand website still work?

The New Zealand operation continued under Merco. Its continuation does not restore the discontinued Australian service.

Does an old POLi receipt prove a current payment arrangement?

No. It documents a historical transaction. Current availability requires separate, current and country-specific evidence.
